FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where are you based? Will you travel for our wedding?
I’m currently based in the enchanting Peak District, Derbyshire, hence the moniker ‘The Peak Celebrant’. While I call this scenic spot home, I’m more than ready to pack my bags and journey wherever your love takes you. I do weddings all across the North West, UK and even international locations upon request.
Get in touch, and let’s chat about making your special day unforgettable, no matter the location.
Do you do LGBTQIA+ weddings?
Absolutely! Love knows no boundaries, and I’m honoured to craft and celebrate your love story, regardless of gender, identity or orientation. As an ally to all individuals and their partners please see me as a safe space and person who can be entrusted to create your wedding ceremony however you envision it.
Is a Humanist ceremony legal?
As of the current update (2025/26), Humanist ceremonies unfortunately lack legal recognition in England and Wales. However, they’ve been legally acknowledged in Scotland since 2005 and in various other territories like Jersey, Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark. The hope is that England and Wales will soon follow suit (the House of Commons has committed to making progress in legislation soon to legalise non-religious ceremonies… so hopefully watch this space). Fingers crossed!
In the meantime, this shouldn’t hinder your choice of a Humanist ceremony. You can easily obtain statutory legal registration from your local register office at a minimal cost (starting around £60). You can complete these legal formalities days before your Humanist wedding or even on the day itself.
It’s important to note that exchanging rings isn’t a legal requirement in a civil wedding ceremony, leaving the special moment for your Humanist celebration. You can create different beautiful memories out of the statutory ceremony too.
Personally, I always think of a civil ceremony as the paperwork or ‘legal bit’ and not the day you necessarily need to celebrate. Your wedding day should be the day you commemorate.
What is your pricing?
My services are £750 (set fee for 2026 onwards) which includes all aspects of the process, full day exclusivity and of course your ceremony script.
*Please note, if your venue is more than 1 1/2 hours away from my location I will add a discretionary expense for travel costs, if required.
